The benefits of Organic cotton are that it feels softer as organic cotton fibres are not broken down with chemicals as they are in conventional processing, the organic cotton is not finished with formaldehyde and is less likely to trigger allergies. It also has increased breath ability, not to mention that it does not require the use of pesticides or allow the use of GM grown cotton. Pesticides are responsible for thousands of deaths every year and a multitude of health problems in cotton farming regions.

Organic Real Nappies

A child uses approximately 5,000 disposable nappies during a nappy period. That makes 3 billion tonnes* of waste every year (WEN.ORG), which takes approximately 500 years to bio-degrade. Alternately, 4.8 kg of cotton is used to make cotton cloth nappies, all of which is recyclable. Organic cloth nappies not only help the waste issue but also cut out the use of pesticides in the farming process, thereby saving farmers and processors lives, and reducing related health problems. Pesticide free farming means less pollution.

Organic cloth nappies have none of the nasty chemicals and lotions and preservatives that fill regular disposable nappies. Soft airy cloth nappies made of environmentally-approved organic cotton flannel or Terries with wool over pants are the best, most natural and comfortable material you can use next to babies skin. Babies spend all their time in nappies when they are little it makes sense to pick the purest, softest materials. Cloth nappies have been used for thousands of years; disposable nappies have been used for just a short time. Studies have shown that the chemicals in regular disposable nappies can trigger asthma in small children* and be the cause of reduced fertility in adulthood*. Your child will be nappy-free earlier with cloth nappies, usually before the age of 2. This is because the child "feels" when it wees.
