By creating a supply chain dedicated to organic principles, Rhiannon at Abaca Organic has ensured that the stringent requirements of the Soil Association have been addressed at each stage of wool manufacture from the farm to the grader and from the grader to the ‘scourer’, all have been thoroughly inspected.

Fire safe organic mattresses without Chemicals by Abaca

All mattresses need to meet UK fire regulation laws before they can be sold. Organic mattresses by Abaca meet all the fire safety regulations of the UK and have an approved BS 7177 standard to prove it. They successfully meet this regulation because of the high quantity of wool used within the mattress. Not only is wool breathable and insulating, cool in the summer and warm in the winter, but it is also naturally fire resistant thereby dispensing of the need to pump the entire mattress full of fire retardant chemicals. But just as in a house full of fire retardant chemicals – a smoke alarm and a safe exit route should always be part of the plan!!

Pesticide Free zone

As with cotton used in conventional clothing production, cotton used in standard mattress manufacture contains pesticide laden cotton, adding to the worldwide burden of pesticide damage caused by cotton farming; to the environment, wildlife and farming communities globally. The organic cot mattress produced by Abaca is Soil association certified as Organic. Particularly important for young children, Abaca has created a chemical free sleeping environment for baby, with this comfy, safe organic cot mattress. Comprised of a sturdy core of coir (coconut fibre) and natural latex, it is wrapped with a thick layer of wool, and completed with an organic cotton cover. The combination of wool and cotton means that no fireproofing chemicals have been used in the production process. As with all the other Abaca mattresses this product is certified as Fire resistant.

Natural Latex Mattresses (Ramsey) by Abaca

Metal Free natural latex is wrapped with welsh wool and finished with organic cotton to create a comfortable totally natural mattress. Although the cotton and wool are organic, the latex is not yet certified.

Organic Pocket Sprung Mattress (Snowden) by Abaca

Certified as fully organic, this mattress has a large number of metal springs wrapped in organic sturdy organic cotton pockets at its core. This core is followed by several layers of organic cotton and then 1,000gsm of double needled wool which creates strength and durability keeping the central core tightly wrapped. The two layers of lightly needled wool that follow on top of this create comfort and body whilst the final layer of wool topped with organic cotton adds a luxurious finish.

This mattress can come in standard or firm finish, please state which finish you would like when ordering.

Delivery – Delivery is by personal arrangement with you. If you are unavailable to accept goods as agreed by arrangement you may be liable for a £20 failed delivery charge.

Warranty – All mattresses come with a 12month warranty

Return of goods : In the event that you are not satisfied with any bedding product you have 3 days following delivery in which to inform us that you do not wish to keep the item purchased, and request collection, which is at your expense. Returned products must be clean, undamaged and in their original packaging. Any mattresses to be returned must be unopened and unused.

Acceptance of Goods: After three days following delivery, it is deemed that you have accepted the goods
